We’re returning to Torrey this year to ride one of the best motorcycle roads in the nation!
The Great Escape to Torrey on May 22nd-24th!
We’ll be meeting at Triumph of Utah at 9:30am and leaving at 10 AM on Saturday, May 22nd. We’ll be riding a beautiful route that takes us over the amazing high altitude Energy Loop to Huntington.
Once in Torrey we will find our rooms and settle in before dinner at the Saddlery. Make your own accommodation reservations! Make your reservations ASAP as Torrey books up early every year. Officers will be staying at the Red Sands Hotel. We will use this as our “base camp” for meeting and most likely for after-ride hors devours. Other options are available in town at different price points. Nearby hotel options include the Days Inn ($124+/night) and Broken Spur ($119+/night). More “rustic” lodging is available in the form of small cabins ($45/$75+ a night) or tent sites ($28+/night) at Wonderland RV Park.
On Sunday, URAT will provide members breakfast at the Broken Spur’s restaurant (if you’re not a member you can sign up on the trip for just $20). After breakfast we will travel south on UT-22/62 through John’s Valley to Bryce. We’ll get lunch in Tropic so bring your wallet. After lunch, we’ll continue on the famous highway 12 to the east to Boulder. If you’ve never been on this road you are in for a real treat. Some describe this as the best motorcycle road in the west. Time allowing, we’ll ride Burr Trail from Boulder to the Overlook and back. We’ll then climb in altitude and summit Boulder mountain and drop back down to Torrey. After dinner we’ll sit around the campfire (at the Red Sands Hotel), enjoy hors devours, and tell stories of an amazing day. Monday it’s back to Salt Lake.
